High and Dry

Their best album is the Bends. Even they released a lot after that second album, still, it’s the best for me. Until now. It’s a mixture of great alternative songs and prelude of what they are doing now, somewhat electronic mix of rock. That was evident in OK computer onwards. However, this is the song it made me cry. I don’t know why, that was the time I’m riding back home from Alabang, riding a non aircon bus going home. Maybe I was depressed or very sad at that time, I can’t believe, this song made cry.. Although now, it just made me stare blank. hehehe But anyways, I still love this song, and many were putting this in alternative love song lists, I don’t know why it became a love song. The rhythm, and lyrics, quite sad, no love at all. That’s all I feel. Maybe how Thom sang the lyrics and chorus, that can be a point to make this song.. Sounds for love. I don’t know..

Two jumps in a week, I bet you think that’s pretty clever don’t you boy
Flyin’ on your motorcycle, watching all the ground beneath you drop
You’d kill yourself for recognition, kill yourself to never ever stop
You broke another mirror, you’re turning into something you are not

Don’t leave me high, don’t leave me dry
Don’t leave me high, don’t leave me dry

Drying up in conversation, you will be the one who cannot talk
All your insides fall to pieces, you just sit there wishing you could still make love
They’re the ones who’ll hate you when you think you’ve got the world
all sussed out
They’re the ones who’ll spit at you, you will be the one screaming out

Don’t leave me high, don’t leave me dry
Don’t leave me high, don’t leave me dry

Oh, it’s the best thing that you’ve ever had
The best thing that you’ve ever, ever had
It’s the best thing that you’ve ever had
The best thing you’ve had has gone away

So don’t leave me high, don’t leave me dry
Don’t leave me high, don’t leave me dry
Don’t leave me high
Don’t leave me high
Don’t leave me dry
